United Way of the Piedmont is a local nonprofit serving Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties. For over 85 years, our community has trusted United Way of the Piedmont to meet our community’s most pressing needs with the most effective solutions. We focus on improving the education, economic mobility, and health of our community through:
1. Collective Impact – We use our “tables and chairs” to convene community leaders around the biggest challenges facing our community, such as homelessness, behavioral health, and economic mobility.
2. Community Investments – We invest in nonprofit programs in our community that are making a measurable difference for local families. Programs are rigorously evaluated through our Results-Based Accountability model, ensuring that funds are being used wisely.
3. Filling the Gap – When there is a need in our community that is not being met, we step up to “fill the gap.” One example of this is our unique Community Resource Coordinator program, which provides intensive case management to families to help them move towards self-sufficiency.
We know that across our three-county footprint, 30% of people cannot afford basic needs like groceries, rent, or childcare. This means that 1 out of every 3 people is living below self-sufficiency—and this is a statistic none of us should be okay with.
United Way of the Piedmont is currently working to decrease the number of families below self-sufficiency by 11,000 (10%) by 2030. When you invest in United Way of the Piedmont, you can be part of improving the long-term quality of life for thousands of families across Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union Counties. Will you join us?
