Speaking Down Barriers Healing Us: Equity for All Black Lives

Healing Us is a racial affinity space for Black folx to heal and engage wholeness. Current events in the Ukraine have not only been affecting native Ukranians but also Black foreign students. Reports and first hand accounts have spoken of racism and discrimination at the borders as these students try to flee from the conflict. This was also seen in our own country late last year as Haitian immigrants experienced harsh treatment at the Texas/ Mexico borders as they tried to seek asylum, fleeing natural disasters, poverty and political turmoil.

If equity existed for all Black lives right now, what would the aforementioned situations look like? Why are Black people around the world treated as less than, even in situations where multiple racial groups are experiencing the same hardships? How can Black people continue to find ways to heal under these circumstances? How does global anti-blackness play into these and other situations? We will discuss these questions and more this Friday! We look forward to see you all in the virtual space!
